Kitefoil World Series – Weifang 2018
Welcome to Weifang on the Yellow Sea off Weifang Binhai, eastern China, for the 1st stop of the 2018 KiteFoil World Series where we cover five days of intense competitive racing between the top British, French and Monégasque champions as well as the top American and Russian women – all filmed in perfect conditions!

Dog Man Run 
Brenda and Stefano run together over a panoramic and hilly eleven km circuit with Brenda leading and tugging. We follow the duo up and down across all kinds of terrain with running conversations.  Stefano explains who is boss – he or Brenda? And then he tells us what he thinks of the hi-lite trail running system dog harness for dogs on the go by Ruff wear.

CFLD Beijing Marathon 2018
This spectacular marathon stretches across Peking, from the landmark Tian’anmen Square and ends outside the National Stadium, better known as the “Birds Nest”.  The top favorite should be Kenya’s Valary Jemeli Aiyabei but the field also includes two sub-2:22 runners and a handful of top Ethiopians. A must see!

We take an interesting walk through one of the Peak District’s least known dales and discover some of the best views of the mighty Ullswater from the top of Glenridding Dodd. Put your boots on and lets go….

ÖtillÖ Swimrun Cannes 2018
The famous ÖtillÖ Swimrun series concludes the season with spectacular action in Cannes, France. The race winds its way across the magical Lérins Islands, with a long swim to the mainland. The run includes crossing the famous movie star Croisette in Cannes before climbing two high hills, La Croix de Gardes and California and finishing in Cannes.

My experience in this internship was focused on dynamic interdisciplinary capacities which are useful for marketing purposes, specifically, to expose Horizon Sports TV to a broader audience. My purpose as an intern was to bring Horizon Sports closer to people in order to engage our audience into healthier lifestyles. We believe that an outdoor sports channel motivates people to stand out and try something new, while discovering new types of sports and new places across the globe. In a more general sense, we provide a venue for people to explore their own meaning of wellness.

This internship made me reflect about my own meaning of wellness. And wellness can be just about anything: the quality of the food you eat, how you emotionally and physically feel and even the way you relate to people –doing sports, watching films, traveling, etc. After this internship, I interpret wellness as a point of balance in life. I learned how to produce a new image for wellness, one that empowers women to get involved into outdoor sports. I shared videos and images that showed women relating to outside activities such as mountaineering, hiking, or even marathons.

As a result, Horizons Sports TV’s social media engagement increased tremendously. I helped increase their number of Instagram followers by 50% over the time of my internship. I had the opportunity to attend to Trento’s world wide famous film festival. This was a life changing event in which I had the opportunity to interview and network with the festival’s director as well as with younger film directors who had the opportunity to compete in the festival  https://jwp.io/s/fCHu7xOW. I filmed an unboxing video in which I tested an outdoor sports jacket for the prestigious sports brand Colmar https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ABYBtPrgC04 and created advertisements for more female outdoor-sports products for brands such as CTR.

Everytime after I met with my mentor to discuss my progress I felt more and more motivated to try new ideas for the company and I had a great sense of empowerment. During this internship, I felt like my opinion was always taken into account and respected. My mentor would give me full freedom to perform all of my initiatives. We worked together once a week, as I enjoy traveling around the world to create new content for our latest campaigns.

I think the most important aspect of this internship was that I discovered what wellness feels like. I was constantly surrounded by creative and active individuals who enjoyed sharing what wellness meant for them. From my behalf, I learned that wellness means combining my passion for promoting social justice by empowering women to engage in healthier lifestyles, my passion for photography and videography all along with a deeper understanding of the globalization process for companies, as I studied in my Global Economics courses at UC Santa Cruz. All together, this internship helped me find what makes me happy and go out into the world as an empowered leader who accomplishes her goals.

Magic Mushrooms, and wellness are the words that launched off this years 2018 Global Wellness Summit. This year the summit took place at the Technogym headquarters, located in Cesena, Italy, the heart of the wellness valley. Technogym is a world-leading company that promotes a wellness lifestyle, in terms of health, physical fitness, and mental wellbeing. While the summit started off with the emergence of a super nutrient found in mushrooms, it soon began its discussion on the central attraction theme, Shaping the Business of Wellness. The renowned phrase La Dolce Vita was used to describe a mantra of wellness through a balance between movement, nutrition, and positive mental approach also recognized as the 3 pillars of wellness according to Nerio Alessandri, CEO of Technogym. This mantra was incorporated in many of the presentations, and it enforced a method of wellness through wellbeing and happiness. It was particularly represented in the Blue Zones presentation by Giovanni Mario Pes who demonstrated his amazing trajectory in deciphering the zones in the world with longer longevity, all with the single touch of a blue pen. Recognized now like the Blue Zones, these areas are some of the poorest regions. However have the longest longevity. This discovery demonstrated that not only nutrition and physical fitness are crucial to one’s wellbeing and health, but that happiness also has a key factor in greater longevity. This was by far my favorite message from the 2018 Global Wellness Summit, and what a better place for it to be hosted by than by the wellness valley itself. A region in the Emilia Romagna that promotes wellness culture within the community. The 2018 Global Wellness Summit was of a phenomenal experience to inform myself about the wellness trends and learn how impactful these new advancements can help the economical and social sectors of wellness.

You probably have never heard of the Ladek Mountain Film Festival or that Poland has a very respectable climbing tradition. Neither did I, until I attended the Ladek Mountain Film Festival in Ladek, Poland.   Ladek is a resort town nestled at the foot of the Tatra Mountains and close to the Czech border – a summer hiking destination and winter ski town. The town is famous for its thermal baths and spas. Once a year, the top Polish mountaineers and world-famous mountain filmmakers descend on the town to discuss new achievements in climbing and present the best films about mountain sports. This year, the highlights were the film of the first-ever solo ski descent of K2 and the Piolets d’Or award ceremony to honour the best mountain expeditions of the year. The week of films and panel discussions, featuring internationally known mountaineers, concluded every evening with a big catered party, featuring delicious local specialties. But attendees of the film festival were not only passive viewers, but also active participants in sport activities such as hands-on climbing courses and trail running, both day and night, in the surrounding hills.

HorizonSports was there to provide complete video coverage of the event, conducting interviews and featuring film teasers, as well as a ride through the surrounding mountains and some of the trail-runs and climbing classes. One of the key events was the tour through the surrounding mountains via Swedish army truck, hosted by the mayor of Ladek, finishing with a delightful hike along the Czech border and a lunch of local beer and dumplings. The venue is about one hour and a half from Wroclaw, a delightful historic town with a modern airport served by Ryanair flights.

Ironman Wales 2018
Ironman Wales takes place amidst the castles and stunning landscapes of Pembrokeshire on the South Wales coast. After a 2.4 mile sea swim in the historic setting of Tenby, a challenging 112 mile bike ride takes in some big climbs before athletes face the 26.2 mile run to the finish. This prestigious offers athletes a chance to qualify for the Ironman World Championships in Kona, Hawai. The race attracts thousands of triathletes, including some of the world’s leading pros.

Xterra European Championship Germany 2018 
Let’s move to Germany and to the beautiful city of Zittau. The 11th stop of the XTERRA European Tour in Germany also played host to the European Championships. Now in its 17th year, XTERRA Germany has been for the past 11 years in Zittau, a town in the south east of the country, near the Polish and Czech borders.

Adventure Academy Sweden 2018
After having completed the Adventure Academy 2018 program, Two students went through their own adventure : Sannan ran 340 km in the Lofoten Islands and Dan Danes climbed the Elbrus, the highest peak of the European continent which culminates at 5642 m.

The 2018 ÖTILLÖ 1000 Lakes was the sixth ÖTILLÖ Swimrun World Series Weekend this year and also the first Qualifier for the 2019 ÖTILLÖ Swimrun World Championship. This 3rd edition of the race in the Mecklenburger Seenplatte just North of Berlin in Germany is in an astonishing place which few outside of Germany know about. The area has more than 3 000 fresh water lakes with very clean water.

RS:X Windsurfing World Championship 2018
Follow the action of the 2018 RS:X European and Youth European Championships & Open Trophy, hosted in Sopot, Poland. The European Championships took place just after the Sailing World Championships, where the first tickets for Tokyo 2020 were given to the athletes.

USW UK Challenge 2018 
The Brecon Beacons mountain range in Wales is the venue as more than 100 teams take on 3 days of physical and mental challenges, ranging from running and canoeing to anagrams and riddles, testing every core skill of both body and mind. Fitness is essential, but not enough – teams will need patience, strategy, intelligence and teamwork to succeed.

Perskindol Swiss Epic 2018
The 2018 Perskindol Swiss Epic kicks off five days of pure mountain bike heaven in Bettmeralp. Riders navigate some 50 Valais municipalities visiting quaint mountain villages, past traditional vineyard terraces beside the magnificent Aletsch glacier. Covering 50-80km each day, with 1800-2800m of climbing, the Perskindol Swiss Epic culminates in the resort town of Zermatt at the foot of the magnificent Matterhorn.
