The High Pass
Annapurna Circuit trek in central Nepal climbs to an altitude of 5,400m through Thorung La pass, one of the highest trekking passes in the world, below peaks that rise 6000-8000m in elevation from the Annapurna Range. We attempted to complete the trek in about 15 days starting mid-December, when the shoulder season promised much smaller crowds but with it a risk of deep snow that early winter can bring to the Pass.

Strade Bianche 2021 – The Day Before – Elise Chabbey
Elise Chabbey is a versatile Swiss athlete. She began her career in Canoeing, where she specialized in slalom. As such, she participates in the 2012 Olympic Games in London. She then put her sports career on hold to finish her medical studies. She is also successful as a runner. In 2016, she started cycling. In 2017, she finished fifth in the Swiss road championship, sixth in 2018 and second in 2019. While many cycling races are canceled in spring 2020 due to the Covid-19 pandemic, Elise Chabbey, who had meanwhile completed her studies, volunteered to work as a doctor at the Geneva University Hospitals. She participates in the Strade Bianche in 2021 as part of the Canyon – SRAM team.

Mediterranean Epic
The Mediterranean Epic is an 4 days mountain bike stage race in the province of Castellón. It is the first mountain bike stage race in the UCI Hors Catégorie in the Olympic season. Bikers from 30 countries are competing. Among them some of the best bikers of the world including legendary Alban Lakata, three times XCM world champion and one of the best bikers in the history of the sport. Next to him is another of the best XCM riders in the world, the Swiss Urs Huber. Another strong contender is Jaroslav Kulhavy, Gold medal in the London Olympics and silver in Rio de Janeiro. In the women’s we see true legends like Alice Pirard from Belgium, as Ariane Lüthi from Switzerland fighting for the title.
