World Marathon Challenge 2020
Beginning of February 2020, despite Coronavirus crisis, 36 marathoners ran 7 marathons on 7 continents during 7 days. In not more than 168 hours from start of the first run to end of the last, they ran a marathon in Cape Town Africa, Novo Antartica, Perth Australia, Dubaï Asia, Madrid Europe, Fortaleza South America and Miami North America. They had to cope with extreme conditions, limited recovery time and travel by plane with low oxygen and humidity.
Film : The Long Hope
St John’s head on the Island of Hoy is a wild and remote 1150 foot sea cliff. It was first climbed in 1970 by climber and poet Ed Drummond together with Oliver Hill. They took 7 days to climb the cliff, sleeping on ledges and in hammocks along the way. Now, 40 years later, one of the World’s top climbers, Dave MacLeod, sets out to climb the cliff in a single day, finishing with a new desperately hard final pitch up the headwall.
Al Adaid Desert Challenge 2020
The Al Adaid Desert Challenge is one fine reason to visit Doha, Qatar. It’s a stimulating multi-discipline event with the energy sapping element of riding and running on sand. Three components made up the challenge: a 40 kilometer mountain bike race, which the UCI rates as a C3 cross country event; a trail run race; plus a duathlon race starting at the Sealine Beach Resort.
This Way Up – The Film
This Way Up is a ‘broken’ man’s journey by bike through his homeland, Scotland. Andy McKenna, mountain biker since the 1980’s and a professional mountain bike guide making his living from running mountain bike adventures in Scotland was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis (MS) in 2007. Although he didn’t know it then, far from being the end of his mountain bike career and his life, this (apparently) incurable degenerative neurological disease was the start of a different kind of mountain bike journey. Biking helps to cope, to escape and to keep Andy sane.
