Cycling to the Dragons, Trail Face Off, Algarve Bike Challenge and a new episode of Walks around Britain on HorizonSports this week

Cycling to the Dragons
Bikepacker Michele cycles across the Flores Island (Indonesia) between Maumere and Labuan Bajo with the ultimate goal to see the famous Komodo Dragons. As pointed out in tourist guides : “a trip for super-human cyclists with legs of steel. Topography of the island rules out cycling for all but Tour de France outcasts”! It’s indeed a 700 km ride from east to west of the island from sea level to high volcanos. Hard climbs in hot tropical temperatures.

Trail Face Off
Three trail shoes are put to the test against each other. First in a complete unboxing first impression round up by Denys followed by an exhausting field test covering 48km over a couple of weeks to see what each shoe is really like.  An informative and entertaining competition with the winning shoe….in plain sight.

Algarve Bike Challenge
Welcome to the beautiful old city of Tavira at the foothills of breathtaking Algarve Mountains for the 7th edition of Algarve Bike Challenge, the greatest bike event in Portugal and one of the best in the world. The Algarve Bike Challenge is a GPS guided race and the athletes, competing in teams of two, also have to face the difficulty to discover the route. 165 km in 3 stages on a very demanding route are awaiting 900 bikers from 15 countries.

Walks around Britain
Andrew walks us again through two easy walks. The first walk is in the area of Saltburn in North Yorkshire along the coast and in the countryside. Part of the walk follows the Cleveland National Way which is part of the England Coast Path. You will also see an old fan unit used for a former iron mine. The second walk is around Denby Dale in West Yorshire. Starting and finishing along one of the most scenic railway line in England and passing by the iconic Emley Moor TV tower, this walk crosses very rural areas and lovely woods along River Dearne.
